  1. I recently picked up a 2010 SE, and I want to get a leather steering wheel cover. Which one did you go with, where did you order from? Pros/cons? Thanks!
  2. Changing to a higher rated fuse will not have the effect you are going for. That only restricts the max current being drawn by the component connected. If you needed a larger fuse, the one you have would have blown. From what I have read, HID kits in the Fusion are like a marriage, be patient, takes lots of time, and sometimes the only fix is money.
  3. press the lock button two times?
  4. You are welcome. I feel better now that we can put that behind us.
  5. Same place - centre console. It is located along the front vertical wall. If you have Sync, the USB connection will be next to the aux-in connection. I use it with my iPhone, works well.
  6. I spent 12 years installing remote starters and other aftermarket automotive electronics professionally. I can say that 10-15 minutes is the max you should allow a remote starter to safely run, and many remote starter manufacturers have a limit somewhere between 20-30 minutes. As an installer, there are other considerations. One to consider is that some people will start the vehicle while it is in a garage. Even with the door opened on an detached garage, this is a bad idea. Parking garages also come to mind. There is also the potential that a mechanical failure is occurring, and limiting the run time may reduce the amount of potential damage. I notice the Fusion heats up a lot quicker than my Focus did. I am looking to add heated seats to my Fusion, this really adds to the comfort level. I know your pain though - I live in Edmonton. On December 13, we were the coldest place in North America, and 2nd in the world - only 3 degrees from Siberia. -45C sure creates an appreciation for a remote starter that would work for 1 minute at a time!
  7. White isn't as tough as some, I really like red for hiding the dirt and dust - it just looks like a darker red. As for the current colour, the metallic coat looks great, and as the bottom gets dirty, it starts to look quite dull. I am driving in the snow now, and am looking forward to the warmer/dryer months to really appreciate the car. Like I said, I liked the white so much, I ordered it, and waited 10 weeks for it to arrive. I like the darker grey, in the showroom it looked like it had a bit of green in it, that really turned me off. The blue looks sharp too! I owned a blue Tempo in 1994, I am turned off for life Good luck, let us know what you decide to go with.
  8. I took delivery on my 2010 SE a few weeks ago. was originally going to get the Sangria Red, and after the dealer transfer fell through, my salesman showed me the Platinum White. Being a fan of red and white, I loved the white. My last car was red, and the new white looked amazing to me. A neighbour has the White Suede on his Focus, and when the two are parked next to each other, I like the Platinum White even more. Not easy to keep clean though... Looks like a million dollars when it is though.
  9. I took delivery on a 2010 SE 6spd manual trans almost two weeks ago. I loved in in the test drive, but the clutch on my car feels off. I noticed it is easy to push in, and the petal does not rebound very well. It has been bitterly cold for a few days here -41C today. Today the clutch actually stuck when I stepped on it! Also my parking brake will not set when it is this cold. I like the fact it does not make the annoying clicking sound as you pull up on it, but there is an issue there. I normally do not park the car in gear, as I am used to having a remote starter. When trying to get the car into reverse, it is bit tough to press down on the gear shift, and then when out of reverse, it does not always lock out reverse. I will be calling the dealership tomorrow morning to resolve these issues.
  10. Are you referring to Daytime Running Lights (DRL), or the automatic light feature that turns on the lights when it gets dark?

    In Limbo...

After a calling the dealership every week for a month, they called me yesterday - my car had arrived! I picked it up this evening. I have purchased a few cars from this dealership, and the delivery coordinator always has them in the showroom when I get there. I felt so proud... It was worth the wait, and I am glad I didn't settle for a colour that would have been my second choice. So now some of the mods can begin. It is an SE, and I am ordering the fog light trim, and air dam inserts from the Sport model. I like a little more chrome, and there are not too many sports kicking around here. I will leave the original tires on the car, and use those for winter driving, and have my eye on a decent wheel/tire package combo for the summer. Now I need to learn to speak Sync.
  12. Looks good! I can't wait for my platinum white SE to arrive in early December. I am trading a 2007 focus as well, a car that will be missed. I live in Edmonton, and am debating winter tires before I take delivery...

    In Limbo...

I visited the dealership on September 21 to order, and as of last week, the delivery date is showing December 8. I was getting impatient, then I remembered, my trade-in is just racking up the kilometres and wear. As my 07 Focus is paid off, I have also gone a little longer without a payment. I have been preparing a bit, paid off my traffic tickets otherwise I would not be able to transfer the plates to the new car. The dealership offered 3 tanks of gas for the delay, I want them to cover the cost of the 3M clear bra for the car... We will see how valuable a 3 time customer is in this economy.
  14. Last time I checked, you are required by law to wear your seatbelt (driver). So, yes you have the right to choose, you then choose to not operate the vehicle. What if I chose to fly a plane, seen it done hundreds of times, free country right? Good luck with that chime thingy...
  15. My 2007 Focus did this, are you sure this is not an option?
  16. As far as adding heated seats, the parts are easy, and they are relatively inexpensive. The hog rings are a different story. Installing on cloth is easier than leather. The leather is more difficult to peel off, and then put back on. A steamer will make the process a little easier. The hog rings and pliers can be purchased online, and at most upholstery shops. The job looks intimidating, and the first time proves quite difficult. The reward is sweet though.
  17. Doesn't your car lock? seems to me, if somebody is in the car, I am not too concerned to lock up my kleenex and owners manual... I worked on cars for year, I always found it odd when somebody would go lock their glovebox, or whatever else - then hand over the keys.
  18. Is the key a separate key? Is it keyed to the vehicle, or will any Ford key open the thing?
  19. The laminx is good stuff, and removable with a little clean up. The Niteshades is not bad, it requires work to keep it looking good. Most will clear coat over it, and have to re-do it every year or so. Also, it goes on unevenly, so a light coating doesn't always look good.
  20. It looks like FTlewis2002 is more concerned about being right than being helpful - yes there is a difference. I have been install car audio for years, and most will accept the term "dead short" to be a direct and constant short in a circuit. Guess you didn't know that... The fact that your lighting is on the same circut is of interest, as it is always powered. With the key off, and fuses still blowing, this would lead me to believe this may be the source. A good place to begin is in the driver's door boot. The wires in the boot that goes between the door and the car are exposed to a tremendous amount of stress. Between the hot/cold, and constantly being flexed as the door opens and closes in these conditions, can cause a failure. Replace the fuse, turn the key on, and with the door open, grab the door boot and move it around. You should try this with all doors. Have you ruled out anything aftermarket, or any other work done to the vehicle? Remote starter, stereo, illuminated door sills... even a misplaced screw that is holding something else in place could be the culpret. Good Luck!

    In Limbo...

Well, this will be the third vehicle I have purchased from this salesman, at this dealership. I actually picked out the car online, and test drove at a dealership close to where I live. And the less popular colour they have for me is the sport blue... I will wait for the factory order, as the vehicle they would have transferred in for me would have had several hundred kilometres on it. Just getting anxious.
  22. I have had the silverstar ultras, and the heat issue is a concern. I was not happy with how long they lasted as well. Just over a year. I went back to the PIAA Xtreme white for headlights, and the Plasma yellow for fog.driving lights. I love the improvement. This was in my Focus, and I will be doing the same in my fusion that I am ordering. I changed out the front signal bulb to the one that is silver coated. Makes the headlight assembly look amazing - all chrome when lights are off.
  23. I have not purchased a vehicle in the US in about 10 years, but for those that live in Canada, it is slightly different. Canadian Ford dealerships and FoMoCo credit Canada will honor the "best of" rebates and incentives when ordering a vehicle. I am ordering on Monday because a local dealer transfer fell through. When the vehicle arrives, I have the option to take the original terms, or the terms available at the time of delivery.
  24. Over the years of installing aftermarket accessories professionally, HID kits are usually have less than favorable results. As mentioned earlier they put out more light, but that is usually where it ends. I have played with a number of halogen bulbs as well. I keep coming back to the PIAA eXtreme white. They operate at a reasonable temp, the light has a tad more blue, and they work with your headlight assembly. They carry a 1 year warranty, and actually invest in R&D before distributing their product. On a daily driver, that has factory warranty, choose carefully. I would also look at your fog/driving lights as a part of the solution. I have been upgrading those bulbs as well. I currently have the PIAA plasma yellow bulbs. I only use the lights when needed, and the yellow does a great job of picking up the lines painted on the road, through fog and rain. Ultimately it is your decision, and your money.
