  1. Ebay, I know everyone says crappy things about ebay, but you can't beat the prices for the EXACT same led's you get other places. Just go on and search "White led wedge". You can pay like 99 cents and wait for ones from hong kong, or pay a bit more from ones shipped from U.S. I now have all white le'ds, except for the rear dome, which should be here Friday. But thanks again for the link, that saved me alot of trouble.

Thanks. I'll give ebay a look.

  2. That had to be on if the best write ups I have ever seen, thanks for the link. You really don't have to take off the mirror, I'm very impressed and will now do these very soon. I have 9 led bulbs, hopefully they're bright enough. I installed 13 led bulbs for the front map lights, they look excellent and are very bright. Ordering ones for the rear soon.

Glad I could help. I'm replacing mine this afteroon. Just out of curiosity, what is your source for the bulbs? I used v-leds.com.

  3. Hello all I am new to the forums and was looking to tweak and personalize my 2010 Ford Fusion Se Manual transmission. I have a ton of questions because I'm not sure exactly what I would like to change.

So first my thought was to get a new head unit, sub woofers and an amp. Now my biggest concerns are the effects these will have on my warranty, and sync system. If you have any input regarding these that would be great. Suggestions as to what pieces to get especially. I am on a budget so I have to keep price in mind.

    Secondly,

I really dislike the utilitarian feel the car drives with especially in the shifter. I was wondering if there are any proven after market short throw shifters available for the 2010 ford fusion.

And finally! I was wondering about rims and possible upgrades and whether you had some suggestions.

Depending on the prices I might do 1 or multiple ideas. So Thank you very much for your input!

Go for looks - Easiest mod: LEDs all around.

  4. Hello, I'm new to the forum. I recently test drove a fusion and really liked it. I had been considering a camry. While I was growing up, I was always told Toyota and Honda are the way to go. I've read several reviews of the fusion and they all seem very positive.

I was talking to my dad today, and told him I was considering the fusion. He was adamant that Ford cars are crap. He told me if I chose the Ford over the Toyota I would regret it. I would like to know, from you fusion owners, is the quality as good as Toyota? Any problems? Please help put my doubts to rest. Thank you.

My dad drove Fords back in the fifties and sixties. Then he went to European makes. I drove Hondas myself for thirty-five years. They were the car to beat. I test drove the 2010 Mazda 6, Nissan Maxima, Honda Accord, and Hyundai Sonata, and I am thrilled with my 2010 SEL. You won't regret getting a Fusion.

  5. Hello,

I'm happy to have found this forum, and to see all the interesting threads.....

Wife drove the new 2011 Fusion SEL off the lot last Monday. This is "her" car so she picked out exactly what she wanted on it, and she's loving it. White Platinum, 3.0L 6 cyl., spoiler, camel interior,..... it's loaded except for NAV. It really is attractive. Her first long drive was round trip from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C., varying speed as directed for break in period. The best news is that her back did not hurt (has a bad back) after the trip because the seats fit and support her properly. Everything worked as it should on a new car except the horn, and that was fixed immediately be the dealer yesterday.

Maybe if I'm good she'll let me drive it someday!

Looking forward to reading the forums, and adding my 2 cents when appropriate.

Welcome and gook luck with it. I love my '10 SEL.

  6. Most awesome about my 2010 SEL is the AWD. We had nine back to back snowstorms right after Christmas, and not one of them was a match for my AWD. Other plusses: comfy heated seats, cavernous trunk, plush ride, classy looks (heads turn), and a dream to handle. As for problems, I haven't had one. I'd say go for it.

  7. I ran E85 in my 2010 SEL AWD for two tankfulls. My mileage dropped by approximatey 25% which immediately made it a bad choice economically. The E85 would have had to be 25% cheaper than gasoline just to break even. Also I felt the car was less responsive and ran more noisily with the E85. There was also a noticeable smell of alcohol when the car was idling or when I pulled into the garage and shut the car off. Political and environmental issues aside, since then I just don't see any reason to use E85.

  8. I love the heated front seats but feel bad for my daugheter sitting in the back with ice cold seat cusion. Does anybody know if aftermarket rear seat heaters exist for the fusion?

    Thanks..

I'm not trying to be cute, but just give your daughter a nice thick blanket for the back seat. In the wintertime it's always wise to have one or two in the car anyway in case of an emergency. I guarantee your daughter will be warmer back there than you are up front.

  9. Is anyone else experiencing poor quality from the Sirius channels? I have a 2011 SEL with the Sony system, and music from any of the other sources sounds great (CD, MP3 player, USB memory stick, and even FM radio). The Sirius channels all sound very washed out. Some are worse than others, but even the best are just so bad I can't stand listening to it. I'm in the 6 month free trial. Is there anything I can do to make the Sirius channels sound better?

There's no solution. Sirius compresses the sound so much that it loses most of its distinctive qualities. Any other source will always sound better. Use it until your subscription runs out. You might decide that the offerings outweigh the poorer quality. Then again you might not. Once you have to pay for it, It is a lot of money for substandard sound.

  10. I have a 2011 Ford Fusion SE. I have had nothing but problems since it came home from the Dealeship. The transmission slips while shifting, as well as a very hard shift. When the car is first started, the start is hard, followed by a loud annoying ticking noise that will not go away. I also have problems with the brakes, passenger side airbag light randomly goes off, and a 2 page list with problems. I have been to the dealer once already to be told that there is nothing wrong. I have spoken with an Allen in Ford's Customer Team who now for 3 days has not returned one phone call. I was supposed to take it back to the dealer but now have no confirmation of an appointment and Ford to put out the bill for the rental. I will have to make my own appt and now put out the money for the rental car. Thank you Ford for bringing me a new headache and what a way to treat a new Ford owner. I will not recommend Ford to anyone I know and amazed how they will not take ownership of the problems being brought to them. Found on Road Dead - FORD lives up to their reputation.

I had some issues when I purchased my 2010. Solution: Write some letters. Stress that what has happened to you is just bad business for Ford. Worked like a charm for me.

  12. We just got the FORD FUSION SEL 2011 yesterday and it was a grand ride! Originally we liked the Focus too but space wise it was too small for my long legs hitting the glove compartment so we chose the ford fusion...then my wife wanted just the plane jane SE model but I quickly convinced her to go along with all the bells and whistles except didnt consider mykey or engine start as we live in the west coast and not too cold.... the added options of Moons package and chrome packages added another 3000.00 but well worth it for the nice drive and the select shift too...

question: Did any of you had the undercoating done :? The dealer always says it worth it and costs lots so we declined

since my wife went along with the added options I let her choose the color...charcoal grey ....ugggh...oh well

till then cheers to all ford fusions owners!

    :headspin:

Congratulations on the new car. In my experience, undercoating, paint sealant, and other "dealer prep" type options are both unnecessary and overpriced. Just another way for the dealer to take your money. A new car already has what it needs to protect it from the elements unless you plan to drive and keep it in extreme environments. Save your money and enjoy the car.

  13. Well, I fixed the problem of the certain albums not showing up. Apparently, I just needed to add the type of music genre to the albums that were not showing up and that fixed it. However, the other problem I haven't solved. I went to the Ford dealership and let one of their guys - who supposedly knew about this stuff - listen to a track that segued into the next one and how it cut off the ending song early and how there was a noticeable pause until the next song started.

Surprisingly, he said that's just the way the sync operates and there is nothing you can do about it. He said to check for updates for my Sync which might fix the problem. Still, I feel like if the Sync people haven't created an update to solve this problem already then I shouldn't hold my breath for one.

Is this really the way it is for everybody else? I wouldn't think so.

I had some issues with music purchased from other than the itunes store and with CDs I recorded from LPs. In both cases the syncmyitunes program fixed the problem.

  14. I used to run a detailing business...

As far as winter prep goes I'd recommend using Meguiars cleaner wax (liquid), wax and remove, then use a paste wax of your choice. Meguiars gold class is a decent, cheap option. The paste wax is going to be a bit longer lasting. After the winter, give it a good wash, use cleaner wax again, then use a good liquid wax about once every month. I'd recommend Surf City's carnauba blend...it looks GREAT on any car, has a decent life, goes on and comes off VERY easy, and even smells like cotton candy ;) You can order it online or at a dealer if theres any local to you.

Great. Thanks for the additional info.

  15. My Fusion is 14 months old. It made it through last winter with just a waxing. Is it time for real detailing, or is waxing sufficient again (or is there some in-between option)? I am on eastern Long Island, NY, so there's an abundance of salt and sand year-round. The car is always garaged when not in use. It still looks brand new. Any suggestions?

  16. When I "put it in my cart", it says I'm buying a Fusion FWD mat NOT a Fusion hybrid mat. Yes, I did select hybrid on the order page. Did you actually get a hybrid mat?

California Covers carries them, or you can get them directly from Lloyd.

  17. Thanks so much for that..... !! I did have the Telephone number but there are about 200 different extentions, but the Presidents is not on this list .... I had sent an email to the Loren More, but was redirected to a Larry Nurse (another VP) who "can take care of all this right away"..... and I have been stonewalled ever since.. 5 months worth.

Today I was at my Ford dealership speaking to the Service Manager, Electronics Service Manager and the Tech involved.... They have done every test and basically have swapped all parts, harness and cables with a brand new Hybrid to no avail... The new parts do not work in my car but my car's parts work in the new one... Hense, we are all now thinking some type of programming in the individualized E PROM that comes with each car.. As the Service manager said... If the main programming moves from one component to another... nothing will change or fix the problem....They have summited a request for a replacement E PROM but one that has been rewritten, not just a copy of the exisiting one as they will just get another one like the one that is in the car...When and if this will be done is unknown at this point...

The service manager has asked for a couple of weeks for a followup on this from the engineering department... If nothing comes of this.... Letters off to the CEO of Ford.

Thanks again for the info..... :)

    Ray

At least it now sounds as if they're taking your problem seriously. I'm glad I could be of some help with the contact info. Good luck, again.

  18. I am on a business trip and was happy to have my choice of a few Fusion 4cyls at the lot! Picked the Blue Fusion.

After 3 days of driving it I can report it is just "okay." Not bad, but okay. It has reasonable pickup and pep, but just doesn't seem as nice and refined as the FFH. I do really like the car and would recommend it. it's been great around town and such, but it is loud! Not as nice as my FFH sitting at home. I miss her.

The dash is of course different, and the options on this car are a little less. It's actually pretty nice for a rental I would say. But I would comment that the FFH is in a class above the regular Fusion when it comes to smoothness and quietness...and of course fuel efficiency! The FFH just seems more graceful and solid.

The hybrid is nice. Too bad you couldn't rent a V6 SEL. Now that's a car!
