Batteries can just flat out be defective. At my shop I have seen probably a half dozen new batteries end up not being good in the last couple of years. I have been on our parts manager to change distributors but they have been so awesome with warranties that we have decided to keep using them. I won't name the distibutor but the battery brand is a Deka. I am not all that impressed with them.
I have always found that the heavier the battery (more lead plates) the better the battery and the longer it will last and with weight of a car the enemy of manufacturers now that they will go with the lightest/cheapest battery they can find.

Just some harmless curiosity for two-car owners: do you keep an eye on the weather, before deciding which one to climb into? If there's definitely inclement weather in store, do you choose an alternate mode of transportation, instead of taking a shiny newer one outside?
Love the FFH, but I'm driving the truck to work today, because it's going to be nasty out
Depends on what is happening with the weather. If it is just a one day bad weather and I can I use the other car if it is dirty but if it is going to be bad for a few days I know the wife will need one during that period so $6 out the window and I drive it. Since cars now days are galvanized metal on both sides it won't hurt the car any to drive it. Besides, I have never kept a car longer than 4 years and that was only once. My cars always look like almost new even after the 4 years as they are kept in a garage and I have never put over 35K on a new car.

I ordered my 2010 Fusion SE 4 cyl on Sept. 17th. They said it would take 6-10 weeks for delivery. Is there a way to track what stage my car is in or an ETA?
once your dealer receives a Vin# you can call Ford or your dealer can tell you the same info of what stage it is in. This info is updated each Thursday evening so is available Friday mornings. I ordered my Hybrid on Aug. 27th had my vin on Sept. 4th and then nothing till 9/18 when they said it was to be built the following week and then on the 25th when I called it was built and in the hands of the shipper so when I call this Friday it should I would think be on the train heading my way as dealer supposed to have it by the 12th of Oct. Someone posted on this forum the different steps it goes through and someone also posted that you can also get which railcar it is on and even trace that but I don't have it handy.

Hello to everyone, I bought a 2010 SE 2.5/stick a month ago & it's a great car!! While it won't win any races the new 2.5 runs nice & the 6spd really works well with the engines power band. I broke it in on a 2000 mile road trip from Ohio through Virginia & down to Myrtle Beach & back. It's a very comfortable road car!! The stick cars are rated at 29mpg hi-way vs 31mpg for the autos but mine was getting around 32 actual mpg. The sync system is great too!! I'm a 17 yr Ford employee so for me there was no choice but a Ford & it's nice to see all the positive reactions to Ford's vehicles!!,plus we haven't taken any gov. hand-outs{& I hope we don't have to!!} My dads Fusion sold me on the cars,he had a loaded Mercury Mystique{mistake}that we absolutely hated, the V6 in it ran great but the rest of the car sucked, he finally gave up & traded it in for a 2007 Fusion v6. The difference in the cars was incredible!! The Fusion rode, drove & felt like a quality vehicle, not a noisy rough riding POS like the Mystique!!! I ordered a bunch of "stuff" for the car,a red/black carbon-fiber interior trim kit, rear spoiler, a Steeda rear swat bar kit plus I upgraded the black plastic fog lamp bezels with the chrome ones from the SEL model. When I get everything put on I'll post some pics
You didn't say whether it is a 6 sp auto or manual but if it is an auto when in high gear going down the road and you give it some gas does it have to downshift each time no matter what the speed is. I was told that if you have a 6 sp. auto on any car this will happen. I don't see why if I just want to speed up a couple mph it has to first downshift in order to do this.
-
Yup.... the manual explains it and I had no problem doing it. But, if one uses a professional tire shop, such as Discount Tire, with their free rotation, they'll re-train the computer as to the sensor location.
Basically, the re-train is not any more complicated than training a new / replacement FOB.
But, honestly, it is kinda interesting. If one is going down the highway, you can see the tire pressure increase on the tires as they warm up when going down the road. Secondly, if the sun is hitting just one side of the truck, the two tires on the sun side will be as much as 2 or 3 PSI more than the shade side of the truck. When hauling a lot of weight in the truck bed, the rear tires' PSI will be higher than usual.
Maybe it is a good thing we don't have this for the hybrids. Between watching the hypermiling numbers, and if we had PSI numbers, when would we look out the windshield? ;>)
Where in the manual did you see this. Also someone posted that according to the manual we are to get something for setting them. Again I can find no reference to this.
-
I really miss that feature. My GM full-sized truck had real-time read out for each tire. By real-time, I mean it sampled about once a minute and displayed the PSI.
I hear ya.

have had my tuxedo black se for two months, 3000 miles. took a drive to virginia with only one problem. had the engine turning over not starting thing one time. this seems to be happening to others. any word from the dealers on the problem? thanks
I believe someone posted the answer to this problem here somewhere last week. Here it is: http://www.fordfusionforum.com/index.php?showtopic=2522

Oh, if Audi and VW use this system than I guess that makes it alright.
-
Just an idiot light. Too bad because I'm pretty sure the sensors Ford is using on the car actually transmit pressure.
Jon
I got a little cheap ass HHR for putting around town and even it reads out the tire pressure.
-
Just wondered how the tire monitors work on the Hybrid with Nav. Does it give a readout in pounds for each tire or just a idiot light setup?
-
It is a stupid system.
So you can only store 1 song at a time and there is no way to find out what that song is after you saved it. Why it is called MEMO I have no idea. It should be called "song notifier" or something. Either way it is horribly implemented.
So to answer the OP, there is no way to find out and all those artists you have been tagging has been a waste of time because they were overwriting each other.
Again copied from my earlier post: • Refresh: Press to refresh the current artist and title information. Not the best feature but you could look at it as better than nothing. If it hadn't been included you would have never missed it. I had a SkyFi XM radio that did the samething so I wonder if this isn't a problem at Sirius end and for some reason it can only do one song/artist at a time.
-
Straight out of the Nav. Manual:
Memo: The MEMO feature allows you to save a song title and artist to
the system. When the saved song is playing on any satellite radio
channel, the system will alert you with a pop-up in the lower status bar.
You can then choose to tune to the station or to ignore the pop-up.
When you are in the MEMO screen, the following options are available:
• Refresh: Press to refresh the current artist and title information.
• Song Alert: Press to store the song information displayed in the Title
Field. When the stored song is played in the future, an audio and
visual notification will be initiated.
• Artist Alert: Press to store the artist information currently displayed
in the Artist Field. When that artist is played again, the system will
alert you with a pop-up.
• Alert On/Off: Press to enable/disable the audio and visual song and
artists alerts.
Maybe not quite what you thought but sounds like a great feature. Say I like Elvis and tag him. Sounds like no matter which station (I'm guessing only works on Sirius) it will notify me so I can change to that station to hear an Elvis tune. Also sounds like if you pick a certain song it will do the same.

Not just a Ford problem as most vehicles with plastic lens will yellow. There are some polishing kits out that supposed to clean them back to clear.
-
Nope - July was the last pricing action.
Up $350 on the sticker.

I just received my DigitalFit liners this past week---first time that I've ever used WeatherTech. I was a little worried because '2010' was not on the box---just had 2006-2009 Fusion---but they went in nicely. Great fit and coverage compared to most other mats! I just wish they offered logos---even a plain 'Ford' logo would be better than the big WT ad.
I can't understand why it didn't say 2010 because it did on mine and I got the same thing.
-
Well got my Weathertech floor liners yesterday and now all I need is my Fusion Hybrid to put them in. I have them in my HHR and they really worked great in that Michigan snow and ice. Pulled them out this past spring and the carpet though matted down was still soft and fluffed up with a stiff brush to just like new. Expensive but cheaper than a new carpet.
-
Ouch, don't let them get away with that, it looks like hell.
-
I tried to back up on a pitch black night, I tried to use the rearview camera and still backed into the ditch. OOPS! It doesn't help that the normal red taillights mixes with the white backup light to create this weird orange hue that distorts everything on the screen. I agree it is terrible.
Have you looked for any aftermarket backup bulbs? J.C. Whitney for one have some 50W halagon backup bulbs but since my Fusion isn't here yet I don't know what type of bulb it takes.

Half way through (8 weeks, which should have been delivery) the dealer said Ford screwed up the order and they had to re place it all over again. Should have been a tip off when 4 weeks in I was still without a VIN number.
As for the 100 miles.... easily haha
Make sure they eat the price increase as it went up about $350
-
If you've got a Cadillac that takes 20-30 miles before it blows cold air, then it isn't working correctly either.
That was just the first time and the air hadn't been on in years. From that point on it ran as it should.
-
Got a call from the dealer today saying the car should be delivered and ready tomorrow morning/early afternoon. Puts me at 15 weeks 3 days from order to delivery.
I wonder why so long, did the dealer screw up? I ordered mine on Aug. 27th and as of this morning (just under 4 weeks) it was built and in the hands of the shipper so should be here soon.

IIRC sugar doesn't dissolve in gasoline, so no harm.
Bring your ride by and we'll test that theory. :hysterical2:

Yeah I think I might like the chrome grille more on the Sterling Grey (I think the monochrome looks decent but just not quite right). I also just can't get over those wheels.
Anyone happen to know how it works if you custom order, can you order other wheels (for a price of course)? Like if those older 18" wheels are no longer available, does that mean you have no option for wheels but to go after market? I like the plethora of options for aftermarket wheels, but would prefer not to have to throw down like $1500 for new wheels and tires and have the original brand new sets just sitting around...
Thanks.
I like the looks of those wheels. On the Hybrid you have no choice at all.
-
Where do you live? I am wondering whether they are prioritizing Hybrid orders depending on which market area you live in.
Mi.

Just got off the phone with Ford and our Black on Black Hybrid with 502A package is now in Ohio waiting to get on a truck to Mi. Supposed to be here on Oct. 4th but that is a Sunday so I'm thinking maybe Monday or Tuesday. Not bad from Aug. 27th order date.
