  1. Hi bigb52. :D A few questions, to try and help: What was the reason you recharged the system 6 months ago? Is it correct to assume that the reason you recharged the system 6 months ago is because it was not getting cold at that time? Did you do it yourself, or have it professionally recharged? Was the system checked for other problems, or only recharged with no diagnosis? Did the recharge correct the problem for a short time?

A properly operating system does not need recharging, so if you needed to recharge the system 6 months ago, at the very least it has a refrigerant leak that needs to be found. And of course there could be other problems, but there are special tools needed to find that out. As an FYI, recharging it again would just be throwing money away, as it will leak right out again.

Essentially, there are numerous possible causes for your problem and it needs to be looked at by a professional.

What a Dealer will/will not charge for Diagnostics varies greatly from Dealer to Dealer. Some will diagnose for free, many others charge a minimum 1 hour labor (or more). So in the end, the best way to find out what a Dealers Service Department will/will not charge for diagnostics is to call and ask them.

    Good luck. :beerchug:

True. I have been taking my Moms 97 Deville out and about this summer because she is getting up there in years and drives so few days that the battery discharges because it may be months between drives. Anyway her car has never had a recharge of the air conditioner and after about 20 or 30 miles it started blowing cold air. So unless something is wrong with a part of the air conditioner or there is a leak there shouldn't be a problem. They don't lose freon for no reason.

  2. We ordered our FFH Black on Black with 502a on Aug. 27th and I just got off the phone with Ford for an update and the lady told me it has been built and left the plant and the shipper has it. Not quite 4 weeks on a Fusion Hybrid is a shock. I would have thought after the Cash for Clunkers it would have taken a lot longer than this. Supposed to be at the dealers by Oct. 12th.

  3. O no no no no no you need to not think for a split second that you can try and influence me on what to do, its an internet forum, i had a 5.0 i had to make a comment like that to someone thinking a freakin fusion can beat one, the problem is is that obviously we need to steer away from eachother im not going to try and tell you what to do and your not gonna tell me what to do. Im a grown man.

I don't know what the hell you are even talking about. For all I care you can by a Prius or a Vette. NOT ONCE DID I EVER SAY ANYTHING ABOUT YOUR CAR WHAT CAR TO BUY OR WHATEVER. All I commented on is your rude behavior. So go back and reread the posts and bitch at the other guy who made the comments, and try acting like a man for a change.

  4. Oh thats right, people with brains and common sense that think v6 ford fusions can take on 5.0 torque monsters, DaveM. Ill just stay here and talk to people who drive their fusions and dont think they are going to be able to take on muscle cars, because obviously those types of people do not have much common sense or brains.

Ill gladly be friends with everyone here who is nice, and also has enough brain to not tell me a 5.0 mustang is a 16 second car :) Nice meeting you DaveM i guess i know who is boss around here :hysterical2:

Here is your FIRST post: This is my first post but i thought i was signing up for a big boy forum, not to be a D!CK but seems like this is very amature. I was clocked doing 130 next to my daddys vette? I had a 5.0 and i am about to buy a new ford fusion, god bless my soul if i had to race a 5.0 mustang against my new fusion sport, no contest. throw gears on a 5.0 and it would take the fusion by BUS LENGTHS!

Now here was my post: You really know how to make friends here. Maybe you should go back to the big boy forums and leave us people with brains and common sense alone. No where did I say a Fusion was faster than a Stang. All I said was you came here with a cocky attitude basically called us whatevers and for me your post was like a slap in the face. Personally I could care if you ever read any of my posts or others but you need to learn how to make friends and influence people plus get your posts/slams correct. Now let us start over.

  5. Jeff, good answer. I, like you, can do the maintenance myself it is just quicker for me to have the dealer do it. But then again, I am probably not as good at it as you. I haven't worked on a car since high school and that was because I couldn't afford for anyone else to do it for me. :)

Main reason I stopped doing my own maintenance is it is getting harder and harder to find a place to dump the used oil plus I watch for coupons as my dealer will match most honest coupons and that puts on record that all work has been done by Ford so no arguement if a problem ever crops up.

  7. That's hilarious! I'll have to give it a try.

Yes, please do as before I ordered my FFH with Nav I complained about the wife's STS with Nav not having a display of places to eat with how far to each place. All it had was the icons on the display and you had to touch each one to see just what it was. So that was the first thing I checked when we test drove a Nav Hybrid. Ford in my humble opinion has done an excellent job on their nav unit.

  8. I am wondering where I can drill the hole without knowing if I drill into something. My luck i will drill into a brace or a wire harness and have to move an inch over. Anyone drill into the inside dash console yet?

    Brad

Most consoles only have a couple screws at the back maybe a couple up front if they don't slide into a bracket so I'd think loosening the rear you could tilt it up enough to do some looking. Maybe you could stop at your Ford dealer and ask them. One of the mechanics may be able to give you an answer.

  9. Doesn't your car lock? seems to me, if somebody is in the car, I am not too concerned to lock up my kleenex and owners manual...

I worked on cars for year, I always found it odd when somebody would go lock their glovebox, or whatever else - then hand over the keys.

My 2002 Chevy Avalanche had a locking glovebox with its own key. If I remember right they called it a Valet key so when you left your vehicle you could lock up the glovebox and take that key with you.

  10. Hi Folks. Picking up a 2010 Sangria Red 2.5l Fusion SEL in a couple of days. I have been driving f-150's for the last 20 yrs so I am really looking forward to it. This forum was instrumental in my decision to buy a Fusion. :happy feet:

Boy will that be a big change. From riding up in the air to the feel of riding on the ground. It took me a while to get used to driving a car after my SUV.

  11. I have never seen the humidity sensor, but on page 239 of the 2010 Fusion Hybrid manual, fuse #37 is a 10 amp labeled "Humidity sensor". I just assumed it was used by the climate control, since on damp day, the AC light comes on, and on dry days, it does not. When trying to WARM the vehicle. (Set point is higher than the ambient internal temperature.)

I wonder if it is on the regular Fusion and if not than I bet it has something to do with keeping the humidity low on either the elec. motor or the battery pack or both. I just downloaded the reg. Fusion manual and there is NO HUMIDITY sensor at any fuse location and fuse 37 is empty so it has to be something to do with the Hybrid part of the car and not the Air conditioner.

  13. I hear that and agree. The cash for clunker vehicle I turned in for my Fusion HEV was a 2000 Ford Explorer 4WD Eddie Baurer ($4650 clunker value including the scrap value), with 186,000 miles on it, that I'd had for 10 years. In that time the only expensive repair I had was a fuel pump went out on the road at 175,000 miles, which cost me one extra day in Roswell, NM and $500 at the Roswell Ford dealer. Being an engineer, I did all the maintance myself including brakes, and nothing was ever over $100. And of course no one warranties a car at that mileage anyway. But that was a conventional technology vehicle. This HEV is a little scary with it's brand new high technology stuff.

I agreee, we have a FFH on order and I'd hate to even think what a new speedo display would cost for that car. I remember the first couple years Prius were out a few members had to have theirs replaced, most after warranty ran out and it was well over 1K and I want to think closer to 2K.

  14. Chances are it was something the prep guys sprayed as they were cleaning the windshield. Ford says wipe it off with a slightly damp clean white cloth and dry with another cloth. If that doesn't remove it, add a very little soap mixture to the damp cloth. wipe and dry. Or if is a heavy amount of residue, lay the slightly soapy damp cloth on the area and leave it for 30 minutes or more, then wipe it dry with a clean cloth.

So many surfaces are clear coated, you do not want to use anything more agressive than necessary. :shift:

Safest thing is to stop by the service department and let them clean it.

  15. I live in an area where the moonroof can remain in the vent position even when I'm not around thus the car cools down in ~45 sec or so - as for winter (if you could call it that) I'll have to find a way to survive...

So it is 110 out which seems about right where you live so the inside is at least that even with the roof open. Wouldn't it be nice to get out of that office building and jump into that same 75 degrees without ruining your clothes from all the sweat. 45 sec. is kind of fast to cool down the car, maybe 10 min. if you're lucky.

  16. Useless? I think the biggest thing I can't wait for is having it to start the AC before I get in the car to cool it down.

Thats kind of what I thought. I live in MI. and we get lots of 90's and we have it in both of our GM cars and it is great in Summer and Winter. When the inside is 120 and I get in it after about 15 min. it sure does feel good with the air pumping out cold. Of course maybe to much of the Tx heat this summer has effected his thinking. :hysterical2:

  17. Bought it with mine but won't get the car until next week (hopefully) and will let ya know what I think. Does it matter if it runs the ac off the engine or the electric? If it uses the engine it will use gas, if it uses the battery it will need to use the engine to recharge that energy lost.

Thanks will wait for your reply. I just don't understand why it isn't standard on the car like on most GM cars. Here is a case on the hybrid where they give you a power passenger seat which for most of us will hardly ever be used. The money they spent on that could have went to a remote start.
