  1. Has anyone forked over the bucks for the remote start on their Hybrid? If so are you happy with it? Does it start the engine in the summer for air conditioning or does the air run off the electric motor as I heard? I would guess in the winter it would start engine in order to warm up car. Is it a pain in the ass having a different remote beside the one on the key?

  2. I made a post the other day and figured out it was the wrong info but could find no place where I could delete my own posts like in other forums I belong to so I just deleted all the text but a . and posted it. There must be something I'm missing. Help

  3. The tax credit of $1,700 is protected if you have an order in the system, no matter wyhen it is delivered. All you need is a dated copy of your purchase order. It would be nice to have a copy of the DORA also, since that will have your name on it and prove acceptance of the order by Ford (before the 9/30 cutoff.)

I stopped at my dealers this morning and was telling him I would need paperwork on when we ordered car. I mentioned the DORA and he had no idea what that was. So I'm asking, what is the DORA?

  4. If I was Ford I would work really hard on obesity problem. Common sense tells me that they have done everything (and apparently very good job) on EV battery/performance package.

If that is correct and at this moment there is no better battery technology to implement right now next place to look at for better MPG performance would be total weight of the car. I believe that it is too heavy. By careful review of each assembly, part, usage of composites at right places they could possibly shed hundreds of pounds.

Example, I have Honda Odyssey mini van. Every time when I need to remove mid row of seats I am badly surprised how heavy they are. There must be hundreds of parts in the FFH that can be replaced by lighter stuff. Lighter car = better EV performance.

    What do you think?

by lighter stuff. Lighter car = better EV performance.=A LOT MORE MONEY=LESS SALES=FFH GOES AWAY

  5. Unless they start making many more thousands of the Hybrids you won't see any aftermarket tuning as I doubt more than 1% are even the least bit interested. I for one bought my FFH when I get it for the gas mileage not the speed. Besides charging it more will shorten the life of the battery and Ford will no doubt not pay for another battery. Since the Prius battery is about $2300 plus install I bet Fords is as much if not more at this point in time as they don't have the numbers the Prius has on the market.

  6. I checked in with the dealer today on my MMH. He still doesn't have a VIN or scheduled build date after 10 weeks. He did say he has a black one with everything coming in on 9/26 and another dealer has an one in Ice Blue with everything coming in on 9/27 and he could probably make a trade. He suggested I call back on 9/28 to check. Of course this is also getting close to 9/30 when the tax credit is reduced again.

I also checked with FCC, but the woman I spoke with didn't seem to know much about how to use her computer and could find no record of the order without the VIN. On second look at the Vehicle Order Confirmation page I have, it looks more like a final confirmation page on the system before the order is submitted, not an actual DORA. At the bottom of the page in bold it says "PRESS F4 TO SUBMIT".

I think they are just trying to sell me the next one they get in with nav to get the extra $1700 and possibly avoid giving me the X-Plan as well. Time to cancel and find another dealer.

you waited about 6 weeks to long. Tell the dealer you will take one coming in but want your Xplan

  7. i talked to the ford company today and i am getting it repaired monday. i do appreciate the helpful information and yes i am very new my last car was a 94 mustang with over 350,000 miles on it with no problems till a couple months back. i seen the fusion in the pre owned lot at ford and test drove it and brought it home. i love everything about the car except there seems to be not alot of mods for it. thanks again for the help :happy feet:

350K you did something right. You won't find a lot of mods for this car as it is more for families than the Mustang is.

  8. I always wondered if the Rain-X type products do more damage to the wipers than they do

to the windshield. Anybody else try any other wipers blade types? I think good blades

are much more benefit than the window treatments (on the front anyway) - the other windows

it's a big help, otherwise you just get "smear" in light rain.

I am about to buy these:

    http://www.valeowipersusa.com/index.asp?pgid=19

I like the blades that have a plastic cap over the hook like Valeo and Bosch Icon (any others?)

The Rain-X blades work great, but fit poorly and look terrible. Consumer Reports had a test/review

of many and Rain-X got the top honor. I have used them on a past car, but won't on the FFH.

Amazon sells most of the major blades at a good price.

The 2010 FFH wiper sizes are 24" driver and 19" passenger.

I've used Rain X on my motorhome since new 8 years ago as it is a big help to those massive pieces of glass on a class A motorhome. Last spring, year 7 I replaced the blades so I see where the Rain X did no harm and the Rain X was more help than the $15 per blade I had to pay for new ones. As a matter of fact my replacement blades from Wally World are Rain X Blades.

  9. Very strange update from FCC today. Last Friday they informed me the car was complete and would ship on the 21st. Today they told me that on the 14th it was sent to "body modification" and is on its way back to the assembly plant. What in the world could that mean? This lady also said they have no estimated delivery listed yet but I should check back next week. How did I go from having an estimated shipping date, to "body modification" and no shipping date?

oh yea, and on a crappy note, if it really does take until the week of the 28th to arrive, I won't even be here. I have to head out of town on the 28th for a week... just my luck haha

That means carroll shelby is going to make some personal changes to it which you will be very happy with. :hysterical2:

Truthfully I have never heard of such a thing. Id be back on the phone with Ford and finding out just what that means.

  10. You didn't say what year or if it was under warranty or not. You really didn't say much of anything that was useful in figuring out what is wrong. If it is under warranty I'd take it straight to the dealers and tell them exactly what you were doing and the message that was displayed. Also have you tried the same thing again to see if you can duplicate what happened before? If you can that would be a big help to the service writter.

  11. You're right, I only did it for the personal preference and looks. It does 0 towards performance of the car. I really liked the way it looked, and that's about it.

Just curious, does the weight of it make the truck lid go down or does it still stay up? I worked at GM many years ago and when the car had a spoiler on it they put in a different trunk rod that held the trunk open better as the stock one would let the trunk lid drop.

  12. Hi 2010 SEL. :D Since you quoted me, I am not sure if you misunderstood what I was stating. So let me clarify: I am not advocating flipping it over, simply relaying what others have stated in the past. In fact, I personally can't see the 2-3 inch difference in sensor height which flipping it over would provide as really making that big of a change, although some of those who have done it seem to disagree.

Also, those who have done this have stated that it does not affect the compass. And even if it did, I would think that following the Owners Manual directions to recalibrate the compass would take care of that problem. And if that does not fix any possible problem, seneca can easily flip it back to the original position. Just throwing out ideas to help solve any potential problems or difficulties, although in reality I would just leave it alone and tell the Service Department he is not happy with the self dimming performance, in case there is a inherent problem.

As I stated, my auto-dim mirror works just fine as it came from the factory, so I have not needed to flip it over.

Hope this makes the information I relayed a bit more understandable.

    Good luck. :beerchug:

Have you ever aimed a Satellite dish? Moving it just a inch would miss the sat. by many hundreds of miles. That 2" at the mirror could be a foot or so by the time it hits the back window so I see how it could happen. I will be curious about this when we get our FFH as I'm 6'2" and wife is 5' so we could have this problem.

  13. I considered it, but the dealer wants something like $500 or so to put it on which is way too much. The clean look of the smooth decklid has really grown on me and I don't think I will get a spoiler. If I get the itch I will just order one off ebay for $150 and put it on myself.

I don't think you can say it's "worth" it objectively. It's purely personal preference because it adds nothing to performance.

Sometimes by adding a spoiler you may also need to change out the trunk rods/structs as they will no long hold open the trunk.

  14. Check and see I think there is another thread on this board on the same subject. It can be a problem depending on your height as I remember. One person who had problems turned it upside down and had no more problems. Now as I get older my memory gets worse so check for yourself. I did a quick check but couldn't find the posts. Hopefully someone else will remember it.

  15. I think the HVAC auto mode is adjusted by the outside temperature and other inputs and gets a reading from an outside temperature sensor. If this sensor also sends the same reading to the dash and it's wrong, then the HVAC would be affected.

I doubt that. If I set the temp to 72 it is the job of the air/heat to make my inside 72 degrees. It should measure the inside temp and adjust acordingly just like at home.

  16. i cant explain why but i have noticed that when im driving i will all of a sudden feel burst of air on my legs and sometimes on my knuckles from the vents and look down to see either my a/c button on or everything is off could there be a short somewere or what

Not knowing a lot about Fords as this is our first Ford order since our 88 SHO but on GM since way back when they did away with those little vent windows they have what GM refers to as flow through ventilation which means even with everything turned off you still get a little fresh air.
