  1. Didn't really see any threads on V6 mileage so what is everyone getting?

    With the 2010 3.0 V6 FWD, I'm getting 23.5 mpg with about 1/2 City/Highway driving.

This seems to be a little better than the estimated combined mpg that was on my sticker (22).

As of yesterday, my 2010 3.0 V6 AWD (according to the computer) got 28 mpg at 75 mph and 29 mph at 68mpg. I'm happy with that.

Good for you. I'll see if I can get an address for you.

  5. Hey all.... I have spent the last 7 months trying to get the auto lamp funtion repaired on my 2010 Fusion Hybrid..

My car has spent a total of 5 weeks in the shop (off and on) to no avail.

The dealership has swapped parts from a new Fusion and the parts from mine into the new car... my parts work in new car and the parts from the new car do not work in mine.

I have been in contact with a VP of Ford Canada and we have had numerous disscussions in regards to this.

At one point about 3 weeks ago, he indicated, after speaking to the dealership and the Ford engineering department, that he was going to work on getting the car replaced for me as no solution is in sight.

(Unfortunately in Canada there are no lemon laws)

    Sounds good right ?

I thought so too and thanked him...

At that point, I thought all would be well..

    Not so fast..

Ford could not find a 2010 Fusion with the same options as mine (well dressed). So everthing went on hold for a week or so.

Upon contacting the VP at Ford Canada, I was told that since there was no 2010 available, I could go and order a 2011 at the dealership, take my car there for an appraisal and just refinance the new car for the difference on the payout of my 2010.

Upon looking into this.... I would be on the hook of approximate $ 15,000 difference..

And that is just not duable for me....

When I told this to the VP of Ford Canada... he got upset and ranted that he should not even be dealing with this problem... and that it should be between the Dealership and the Engineering department.

I then asked what course of action I would have left if I cannot afford to buy a new Fusion when my current on is only a year old.

I was told that then the car will have to be repaired under warranty.... To which I repled... ok... but my question is ..... if it is not fixable after 7 months.... when will it be fixed ? And what other "Gremlins" are lurking in the background to probably appear after the car goes off of warranty?

    No response..

Sorry for the rant but as a VP of Ford Canada... he would have not had a problem just giving me a 2011 Hybrid with the same options and used the opportunity to show the world that FORD DOES CARE..It would have made a great Public Relations commercial

Now... I will not be buying a new Ford product any time soon...Hope that no further glitches show up in this car and will be looking for a hybrid from another manufacturer in 2 years.

I hear that the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is coming in 2012... and I will be taking a serious look at it...

FORD CANADA.... I am so dissapointed in you.

I haven't had repair issues, but I did have issues with my initial purchase of my Fusion. I wrote to several vice presidents of various departments all of whom claimed the situation was not within their purview and/or passed the buck to someone else, all with no results for me. It was only when I wrote directly to Alan Mulally, president & CEO of Ford, that I got what I wanted. Here's the address I used: Mr. Alan Mulally, President

    Ford Motor Company

    P.O. Box 685

    Dearborn, MI 48126-685

Detail, in your letter, every step of the process you have gone through to date. Also explain that you simply want what you paid for and that a satisfactory resolution to your problem, in addition to simply being the right thing for Ford to do, would also be in Ford's best interest from a public relations standpoint. I explained in my letter that I had driven Hondas for 35 years but was so impressed with the Fusion that I decided to make the switch. I also pointed out that, in those 35 years, I never once got the run-around from Honda, and that I would have no qualms about buying yet another Accord. As I said, that letter did the trick. Granted my situation is not exactly like yours since you already have the Fusion, but play that public relations card for all it's worth. And always send your letters to the top guy. The written word is still a powerful tool.

    Good luck.

P.S.: That address is also the one for Ford's Board of Directors.

  6. Aside form potential paint scratches (as described in a separate thread), will a $4 automatic car wash at the Kwiki Mart snap off the antenna on my new 2011 Fusion SEL?

It got filthy on it's maiden voyage (lots of bug splatters from the drive down the shore), and it's already time for a wash.

    Thanks,

    Mike

The car wash will not damage the antenna; it's quite flexible. You don't need to remove it.

  7. I know some people like that smell, but it's a lot of toxic plastic out-gassing.

    1. On a new 2011 with leather interior, how long will it take for that to vanish?

    2. I don't feel comfortable leaving the car windows open in my garage (or even the moon roof cracked in the unlikely event of an overhead pipe leak). So, if I leave the windows closed, will the out-gassing still occur and if I open all windows when entering the vehicle, is that just as good as leaving the windows open overnight?

Of course, when I'm driving, I'll crack the moon roof & windows.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Mike

If you can't leave the windows open when the car is parked, the best you can do is open all the windows and run the A/C or a few minutes BEFORE you get into the car. And if the weather is good, drive with the windows and/or sunroof open. It will takke longer than if you could leave the windows down when parked, but the smell still should be gone in a month or two.

  8. Hi! I ordered a Blue Flame AWD Sport w/ Moon and Tune package 4 weeks ago. The dealership told me it would take 8 weeks for the car to come in. It seems like 6 weeks is the norm. Just wondering how long others have had to wait?

Trading in an 2004 Audi A6 2.7T Quattro. Looking forward to a warranty and the Sync system!

When I ordered my SEL AWD last summer, I was told it soulc be an 8-12 week wait. I had the car in 4 weeks.

  9. Hello all, I just bought a 2008 AWD fusion a couple months ago and I think my MPG is a little low, the computer is telling me 21.5 per gallon. I thought these things were good for at least 25 MPG and I do alot of highway miles. What are you guys getting? Thanks

My 2010 SEL AWD w/7900 miles on it averages around 21mpg in mixed suburban driving. On the highway, I'm getting around 26mpg. Haven't done a long totally highway trip yet - hard to do in the NYC area.

  10. Just got a 06 Fusion v6 and need to get some mats. Are the mats the same for 06-10?

And has anyone bought other non-oem mats and bben happy with fit, etc.

    Thanks.

I have Lloyd mats in my '10. Also a glovelike fit. Also made in the USA. And the best price!

  11. I want to get everyones opinion on using 100% gas vs 10% ethanol. The reason I'm asking is that 100% gas is slowly becoming harder to find. I've been told that my state (Tennessee) has created a law that all gas stations will be required to use only 10% ethanol gas by the end of the year. I have used 10% enthanol 1 time since I've owned my 06 SEL. She seems to run very well with 100% gas. I'm not wanting to run ethanol but I may be forced to.

We don't have 100% gas in NY. My '10 SEL V6 AWD does fine on 10% ethanol. Haven't tried E85 yet - see nno reason to.

  12. Hi everybody. First post.

I've loved the Fusion's looks since they first came out, then when i read about how good the hybrid is, I'm very close to buying. Going to drive one Saturday, only driven the SEL so far. I've read this forum and reviews online. I still have questions.

-My typical "commute" is about 1.5 miles each way all 25mph zone over pretty flat roads. That is the ideal situation for fully electric mode right?

-I know about the battery warranty and it may be too soon to judge reliability, but there is a chance I could be stationed somplace quite cold. How will this car hold up to Alaska or North Dakota for example? I think I'll be OK with FWD only but worried about the battery performance.

-Also, are people generally happy with the 12 speaker sony system? I listened to this system on a regular Fusion and though it had plenty of bass and clarity.

-Lastly, i read one thread about lint attracting seats...is leather a must or is the ":eco" cloth just as nice?

Thanks, and looking forward to hanging out with you all soon :)

Sorry my username is funky, i joined through facebook lol

I have the '10 SEL AWD, so I can't comment on the battery, and I have leather, so I can't comment on cloth. The Sony system is very good. It suffers when listening to Sirius radio because their signal is so compressed. In that case, it's better to listen in stereo rather than surround sound, but for your CDs or ipod, it's great.

In the cold (and probably snow and/or ice) you might want to think about all-wheel drive. The car handles great, and I feel incredibly confident driving in sloppy weather of all types.

One last thought: From the description of your present commute, get the car anyway, of course, but it might be far more eco-friendly to bike to work. Just a thought.

  13. Hi

My friend has Ford fusion SEL 2010

But in my country, SEL doesn't come with navigation system.

So He want a navigation system

    Can you help in :

1- What are the parts we need to have the navigation system ??

2- Can we do it without cut of wires ??

3- If I insert the navigation system, SYNC will not work?? If not work do you have a solution??

I've heard of small device with a display screen, what will happen to the main factory screen and can I use the factory screen instead of device screen ??

4- Can he use steering wheel control with the new screen ??

5- What will happen to the factory WOOD DASH KIT??

I posted a topic in accessories depart for more opinions

    thank you

Why not save the time and expense and the possibility of damaging the dash? Just get a portable GPS. If you want it to be permanent, mount it tastefully (there are many mounts available, or you can make your own) and run the power cord so that it is hidden.

  14. I have a 2010 Sport that's only two months old and when I look at my headlights at night they have areas of cloudiness and have some little weird crackly or squiggly lines in the plastic, almost like little branches. Can some of you check yours to see if they're still crystal clear or if they are also showing some of these problems? Just wondering if I should have them replaced or if this is a problem inherent with the Fusion headlight lense. Thanks!!

Mine are still crystal clear after exactly one year. I'd go back to the dealer and insist on a fix.

  15. Question for you guys with Bluetooth cell phones and Sync. I have a very good friend with a 2011 Mustang who uses his Bluetooth HTC HD2 Cell phone from his car. This is the top phone using T-Mobil. Whenever he phones me, it sounds terrible.

Sounds great when just using the cell phone, but when calling from his car, it really sucks.

My Genesis Bluetooth sounds great (to those I phone) when using my Motorola SLVR-L9. Have any of you been told that the quality of the sound when using your Bluetooth (Sync) in your cars sucks?

Thinking of getting a Fusion (or MKZ) Hybrid.

My Motorola W376g works fine. No one has commented on a difference when I'm in the car. Your problem could be T-Mobil (notorious for poor signal almost everywhere outside of a big city) because the car itself, and motion if you are driving, further compromises an already tenuous signal. Or it could be the inability of the antenna in your phone to handle the interference of the car and/or motion. Road noise (windows open vs closed) and other voices in the car also may play a part. Lastly, we must admit that Sync is no flawless technological gem either. Good luck.

  16. I bought my new 2010 Milan off the dealership lot and wanted a sunroof, so it came bundled with the SYNC option. Since I'm a middle age guy and not into techie toys (I don't use cell phones, Ipods, or downloaded music), I'm wondering in my case if SYNC is a total waste of money and something that will never get utilized? In all honesty, I'd trade SYNC in a heartbeat for the remote start option if I had it to do over again. But is there anything remotely useful about SYNC for those of us that don't use cellphones, Ipods, etc?

You already have Sync, so why not use it? Get a tracfone w/bluetooth, and be safe in an emergency. The phone is cheap (no contracts or monthly fees) and it works. You might find yourself using some of the other features (like FREE traffic, weather, and directions for 3 years).

  17. I would love to see a new center grill piece that has no Ford emblem on it, I would love to have my Black and Chrome color of my car be void of any blue emblems. I wish Ford would use a simple Chrome emblem of some sort.... If I could I would take every emblem off my car, the fusion, SE, Ford, everything. Then my car would be smooth & clean with just black & chrome! ;)

P.S. I have nothing against Ford emblems in general, I just love the thought of a clean no emblems car.

I'm with you on the blue oval. You can easily remove every other badge (I used Goof Off and fishing line, then washed and waxed). But the blue oval is a problem. Total removal leaves a hole. Sanding it down requires painting. It's just a pain.

  18. I sold my 2003 Lexus IS300 about 2 hours before buying the Fusion. I loved that car, so it was hard to get rid of it for something else. It was a 5-spd MT, sportdesign.

Things I miss from it: The power, manual transmission, turning radius, automatic headlights (why the heck doesn't this car have them??), HomeLink

Things I don't miss: Costly repair bills, premium gas, 23mpg

I've only owned the Fusion for a few days, but so far I like it a lot. The only things that bug me about it are the lack of automatic headlights (this is something every car should have these days, except maybe really base model cars), and the lack of any kind of sport-shift feature. I doubt I would use it much, but at least it would make me feel not quite as bad for giving up a manual transmission car and owning my first automatic (it wasn't my choice - I was forced into it by my wife).

Seems you chose the wrong model. Both the SEL and the Sport have automatic headlights and select shift ("manumatic" in other manufacturers' lingo).

  19. The 2010 Fusion V6 has NO "V6 Badge" ............the only badges are on the trunk lid ......left side says "Fusion" ......right side say's "SE" or "SEL" and "FLEX", on the 3.0 V6 .. that's it ! The 3.5 V6 says " SPORT" on right side of trunk. Only other badge say's "FORD" on front and rear. I can tell a 3.0 V6 when I see one by the chrome "dual exhaust" pipes and the "FLEX" fuel badge. I can tell a 2.5 I-4 by the dual exhaust pipes, side by side on the passenger side. I have 7K on mine and its 3.0 V6 is amazing quick and still very fuel efficient!

Ditto. I have the 3.0 V6 AWD. Love it, love it, love it! I removed the flex fuel badge though - just not cool. If you want the V6 badge, cd3fusion.com is going out of business. He might still have some left; I think they're around $6.00.

  20. so since I got my new fusion 2010, theres the "objects in mirror are closer ..." sticker on my passenger side window in the interior. I tried peeling a bit off, but it leaves the words on the window.. I doubt its supposed to be there... should I take it to the dealership to get it removed, or just try removing it myself.. I dont want to keep it there, because, well its awkward, and weird that its on the window!

please let me know what you think I should do!

    Thanks!

That's just weird. The car is new. Go back to the dealer. Ford messed up, not you.

  21. SIRIUS XM Radio Reports Second Quarter 2010 Results

    - Strong Double-Digit Revenue Growth Year Over Year - Adjusted EBITDA of $154 million, Up 17% Year Over Year - Company Raises Financial Guidance

NEW YORK, Aug 04, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX News Network/ -- SIRIUS XM Radio (Nasdaq: SIRI) today announced second quarter 2010 financial and operating results, including:

The discussion of adjusted operating results excludes the effects of stock-based compensation and certain purchase price accounting adjustments. Financial measures and metrics previously reported as "pro forma" have been renamed "adjusted."

"The sharp subscriber growth and double-digit increase in adjusted revenue and adjusted EBITDA show that we continued to execute on our business plan during the second quarter," said Mel Karmazin, Chief Executive Officer, SIRIUS XM. "Compared to the year ago quarter, gross additions increased by 46%, deactivations declined by 8%, and customers paid us on average 11% more each month - clearly showing just how much subscribers love our service. Free cash flow in the second quarter 2010 was $108.3 million compared to $12.7 million in the second quarter of 2009. Our business has improved substantially in the past year, and we look forward to a strong second half and 2011."

In June, the company completed the redemption of all of the $114 million of XM's outstanding 10% Senior PIK Secured Notes due 2011. "We will continue to examine deleveraging opportunities as they arise with the objective of decreasing interest expense and improving free cash flow." said David Frear, SIRIUS XM's Chief Financial Officer. "The combination of increased adjusted EBITDA and lower debt has improved our leverage ratio to approximately 4.6x, a historic low for our company."

On a GAAP basis, net income (loss) attributable to common stockholders for the second quarter of 2010 and 2009 was $15.3 million and ($159.6) million, respectively, or $0.00 and ($0.04) per diluted share, on revenue of $699.8 million and $590.8 million, respectively. The company's reported net income (loss) attributable to common stockholders included losses on extinguishment of debt in the second quarter of 2010 and 2009 of $31.9 million and $107.8 million, respectively. As previously announced, SIRIUS XM increased its guidance for net subscriber additions to approximately 1.1 million for the full year.

Yes, in it's quarterly report, every company puts a positive spin on everything it does . Usually, when you do the math, most of the "good" news is just that - spin, juggling the numbers. Blah, blah, blah. You really have to talk to consumers.

  22. Hi guys, new to the forums and this is my first post.

I just recently got a brand new 2010 fusion sport with a red candy exterior and black leather interior :)

The thing is I'm not quite sure where to put my Garmin Nuvi. I was looking at getting this: http://www.proclipus...pageid=1&dtype=

Does anybody have any experience with these mounts? I am concerned that the GPS will cover up some of the radio display.

If you have other suggestions I am open to them. Thanks!

Try mountguys.com. They have a trememdous assortment of mounts (many of them brand-specific), not just for GPS.
