  1. Hello! Newbie here! Love the Domain Title!!!!!!! Very Hot!

Just wanted to stop in and ask.............

We design exhibition vehicles for aftermarket companies, and in the process we will develope Exterior Styling Accessories for the vehicle as well-

While we are working out our concepts for the exterior styling options - we thought you might like to have a say or offer opinions as to what you might like to see available to personalize or accessorize your fusions.

Fascias, Wings, Rockers that kind of stuff!

If you have an opinion, suggestions or ideas please post em up or email me to let me know what your visions are.

Photochop images help to give me an idea of what you'de like for your ride, but more or less just some good input would help us in making sure we produce something YOU want, and not what just works for a quick show vehicle.

Looking forward to your opinions and input, as well as becoming a part of this group of enthusiasts!

Once I get ours all modded out, I hope we can all put together some meets and see what everyone had done to theirs as well. I feel this ride can definately stand out if done right!

For my 2010 SEL, I'd like to see:

    -some non-chrome grill options

    -LED tail lights

    -clear side markers w/amber bulb

    -shark fin antenna

    -body-colored Ford oval

-stainless steel exhaust tips in either trapezoid or parallelogram shape

-something to replace the stupid, cheap, flip up door on the dash-top storage compartment.

  2. ... over the Malibu, Camry, Milan, etc.? Was it looks, quietness, perforance, features, fit/finish, price or brand name? If you were to buy another car in a few years, would you return to the Fusion?

In order of importance, I chose the fusion for: All-Wheel Drive, quality (six months of research before I bought last September), value for my dollar, styling, and technology. I'm a little disappointed with Sync, but everything else is great so far.

  3. Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to change the original round exhaust tips on my 2010 SEL V6 to oval or rectangular or trapezoidal-shaped tips. What are the qualities and/or brands to look for? How much should I pay for them? Is it something I can do myself, or should I have a shop do it? Any advice and/or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for reading this.

  4. Hi everyone,

Just placed the order on a 2010 SEL I4 in sport blue. This car will be replacing my daily driver '99 SVT Contour that I purchased new and will miss alot.

    // Chris

Welcome. You'll love your Fusion even more than your Contour. Good luck with it.

  5. Post your results if you do run it in your car. I'm getting the same motor in mine and would like to know the economics of it all, gas mileage versus expense etc. I travel the east Coast, mainly the Northeast and may run into opportunities to put it in my tank now that you're seeing it out on the Island.

The 3.0 V6 motor is rated for Flex Fuel E85 in the 2010s. I don't know about previous years though.

According to the manual, you have to fill up with at least half a tank when switching to or from regular gas and drive the car at least five miles. And after 3000 miles of E85, you need to run a tank of regular again. Sounds like a lot of fuss on a regular basis, but I'm goin to try it the next time I'm near empty. I'll post my albeit unscientific findings.

  6. Is your 2010 SEL rated for E85? You should have an E85 tag or sticker on the car, with an E85 gasoline cap. Otherwise, no, don't run it.

I have it for my GM pickup and run it all the time, but the truck is a "flex-fuel" truck and has ample warning stickers on it. Gasoline mileage is considerably lower, but there is a "pat on the back" feeling of using less foreign oil, just as there is with the Fusion Hybrid. Mathematically, you will lose, when compared to using 90% dino gasoline. But, it is a good feeling.

Yes, it is a flex fuel vehicle. thanks for the quick reply.

  7. Hi Everyone,

E85 is now available here on the east end of Long Island (NY), and it's about 50 cents cheaper per gallon. I have a 2010 SEL V6 AWD. Has anyone been running on E85? Is there a noticeable difference in any way? Should I try it? I know it doesn't deliver as good mpg, but is it a big difference? Has anyone done the math?

  8. Have driven my 2010 SEL for a few weeks now and I really like it.

I thought maybe the transmission was shifting a little early going from 1->2 and 2->3. Just seemed from feel and engine sound like it was shifting just a little sooner than it should. No warning lights or anything like that. No lugging down after the shift.

So, I thought I'd stop by the dealer and ask. They had a tech take a test drive with me and he didn't really notice anything unusual. I'll admit it could just me not being used to the 6-speed transmission. It also seems to feel a little different depending on how much throttle you give it starting out.

His suggestion was to drive it a bit more since the transmission is adaptive and I only have about 900 miles on the car. Then at the first service, mention it when bringing it in for service and they'll check to make sure all the latest software updates for the transmission are in place.

Anyone see similar issues on theirs?

I felt the same way when I first got my SEL. I was coming from a 5-speed stick to a 6-speed automatic. The sixth gear makes a difference, and so does Ford's design in trying to get the best possible mpg. Takes a while to get used to, especially if you still drive another manual vehicle.

  9. Hello from a new 2010 Fusion S owner. This car is a new experience, which is requiring some new behavior and adjustments. It's like moving into the digital age with an analog mentality. Manual transmission to automatic. Needing a key to unlock the door to a click of a button. Ah, nice. But it's going to take me a while to get used to the size of the car. Feels like the roads got narrower, and somebody shrank the parking spaces. But rest assured: this former Honda Civic and Acura Integra driver is enjoying himself.

I'm looking forward to learning from all of you.

Welcome. I've been driving Hondas for 35 years (still have my 94 Accord wagon), but I LOVE my Fusion. You'll get used to the technology. And you'll have fun, fun, fun behind the wheel. Enjoy!

  10. Picked up mine last Wednesday. SE 6 cylinder model. First Ford I have ever owned. I have go to say that so far I am impressed with the fit and finish of the vehicle.

The V6 has a lot of punch, too. Wife chose the car. We used to drive a 2004 Pontiac, whcih we loved, but our situation demanded a new car and I'm glad she opted for the Fusion.

Welcome. You won't regret your choice. It's a fine vehicle. I like mine more every time I drive it. My neighbor took a ride in mine and bought one too! Good luck and many miles.

  11. Hi Everyone...I took delivery of my '10 Fusion Hybrid last week, the dark metallic green ( I thought it was black when I first saw it!).

I've owned Hondas and Toyotas for the past 25 years; replaced my '01 Accord after looking at Subaru Legacy, Camry, Accord, Fusion. I would normally stick with Honda, but the new Accords are so stodgy looking and a bit too big (they are now classified as 'large' size). Love the size of the Hybrid, the looks also.

The state sales tax relief and the federal tax credit for next year turned me to the Hybrid over the regular Fusion, plus the gadgets and 40 mpg.

Hoping the switch to Ford will be rewarding. Looking forward to enjoying the Forum.

Congratulations. I too left Honda (after 35 years) for an SEL V6 AWD back in September. So far I have no regrets. You're right about the new Accord. It looks like my grandfather should be driving it. I still like Hondas, and still have my 94 Accord wagon (240,000 miles), but they blew it bigtime on the new Accord and that ugly new Crosstour. Good luck with your Fusion.

  12. I have to agree. The company is an abomination. As XM (XM online) they screwed me and many others with a bait and switch when they changed to a "premium" online service. The response I got from their "customer service" was arrogant and rude. Just Google it if you have the stomach. The Sirius service I have as a trial with my new FFH provides horrible sound quality. Sure, if you are listening to talking heads and not music, it may not bother you. But I like music, and I hate poor sound quality. Especially in the wonderfully quiet confines of my FFH. So for me it is a no-brainer. Hook up the iPod, fill the hard drive with CDs, and I am good to go. See ya Sirius/XM.

    PS... I love my FFH!

Ditto on the sound quality. Sond is much better on any FM station I tune to. So long Sirius.

  13. Just got a letter from Sirius - my free 6 months is just about up. They want $157 for a 1 year subscription (after all taxes/fees).

I called them hoping for a reduced rate but no go at this time. Has anyone else had any luck getting them to reduce their rates? If so, what did you do?

Really like Sirius but not for $157/year.

I'm on Long Island NY. My letter asked $149.31 for the year. That's way too much for the 5 or 6 stations I occasionally listen to. My siblings have XM (one for about five years, one for two years) both of them pay less thn $100 for the year. I do not intend to renew. CDs and my Ipod are just fine.

  14. Will trigger an error code. A resistor of maybe 40 ohms needs to be placed on the coil wire for the lock. DUMB we have to do this stuff.

I have a list in some of my earlier messages here about the dumb simple things that Ford left out of the Fusion, with the lack of interior locking compartments being one of them.

Someone on another forum suggested installing a simple barrel lock on the console. Sounds good - cheap, simple, neat. It just avoids the quick rifling through the box that can happen with a valet.

  15. As you must have noticed, there is no locking storage anywhere inside the Fusion. And with the trunk release button, the trunk is not really secure either. If I give the car to a valet to park, he can rifle through every compartment in the car. Does anyone know of an aftermarket lock that can be installed on the glove box or the center console? And is there a way to temporarily disable the trunk release button? I don't want to have to remove everything of value from the car everytime I use valet parking.

  16. Ask them to pull a Vincent report on the vehicle you are interested in-it's a VIN based system that looks up all incentives, and ones that potentially the car is eligible for such as direct mail offers. The one I"m looking at has 2K in cash back, but were it not for the Vincent report I'd think it only had 1K since that's all that's listed everywhere I looked.

Vincent is helpful, but keep in mind that it is not updated daily. My experience las August was frustrated by Vincent information being a week old. Ford did, however, make good on the original offer, but I had to write to the president of the company to get any action. Still I am quite happy with my fusion.

  17. This coming January I'll be getting a 2010 Fusion hybrid. I was thinking about splurging and getting personalized plates for it. I looked on the site to see what was available and pretty much all the good ones are already taken. The only two that I could find were "Fusion NV" (for Fusion envy) and "MPG MVP". I can't decide which one to use. Which one do you guys like best? Thanks.

I'd go w/ the NV - make people think a bit.

  18. Howdy Guys and Girls! I just came home with an '06 Fusion SEL V6! I LOVE it! I live in a very remote area of SW Texas. I had to travel 4 hours each way to get my new baby. It was well worth it. I left at 5 this morning and got back about 5 tonight. Some of that time included a tint job. When I got home I washed it and dressed the tires. It looks really sweet! Dark Gray with Black and Tan leather interior. It only has 26K on it and I got a fantastic end of year deal. Now, to start looking at Steeda seriously! Here's a picture from the dealer. I'll get some good shots tomorrow. I'll be looking forward to posting with y'all! YEEHAW!

    Congrats and good luck!!

  19. I'm pleased with the power. It's a much heavier car than any of my Hondas were, but it still responds when I want it to, and it's very surefooted. I'm not racing anyone, but I have fun every time I drive it.

  20. Congratulations. I got the same car in smokestone in September. Coming from 35 years of manual shift shift Hondas that were loads of fun to drive, I too am impressed with the Fusion. Good luck with yours.
