  1. I chose the Fusion V6 SEL AWD coming from 35 years of Hondas (most recently a "94 Accord wagon). I saw the Fusion at the NY Auto Show, liked the looks, and decided to go for a test drive. I drove an '09 and was unimpressed. Then I drove the '10 SEL, Hybrid and Sport. I also drove a Camry, a Venza, an Accord, a Mazda6, an Outback, a Sonata, and a Passat. The Fusion won hands down. All-wheel drive was icing on the cake. I also did countless hours of online research. I've had the car since September and have no complaints. There are only 3000 miles on it so far because I kept my '94 Accord, but the Fusion is a blast to drive - much like Hondas used to be. My Accord has 240,000 miles on it; if the Fusion can do that, I'll be one happy camper.

  2. Hi there.....if I may ask, where are you located...have any maple trees around your home/where you park your car? The reason is I had a similar problem....and it turned out that it was some maple leafs that had got caught in the engine compartment....smell was worse after a longer engine warmup.....anyway, once I made sure the engine compartment was free of all debris, the smell went away. Let me know how you made out. By the way, I live in Northern Ontario, Canada

You were right - leaves under the hood. But I had to find them myself; the guys at Ford didn't even think it was worth considering. I'll be taking my Fusion somewhere else from now on.

  3. Hi,

I live one eastern Long Island in New York (the Hamptons area) I have no maple trees, but I do have a lot of oaks and beeches. The car is garaged, but I do drive through leaves in the road this time of year so I'll check under the car and under the hood. Thanks for the tip.

  4. I've had my '10 SEL V6 AWD for two months and loved it - up until now. Today, while cruising along I suddenly noticed a strong odor. It smelled like burnt pancake syrup - very strange. I fiddled with the varioius climate controls, but that made no difference. So I drove to the local dealer who took a look at it and indeed noticed the smell. Unfortunately (as is often the case) their computers were down so they could go no further. (Apparently today's cracker jack mechanics have no skills of their own and must rely on the computer.) When I returned home (problem NOT solved) I looked under the hood and smiffed around. The odor seems to be on the passenger side near a hose that looks like it's wrapped in tin foil. Any ideas? Can I drive the car 600 miles for Thanksgiving weekend?

  6. Yes. I too would like a locking gas door with internal release, especially since there is no gas cap. I do see a lot of older Fusions on the road. The 2010s are a totally different (and much better) car. Right now I think it's still a secret. Funny, I still have my 1994 Accord wagon - 240,000 miles and no complaints. Just hope I can say that about the Fusion fifteen years from now. Good luck with yours.

  7. We are another convert, although we still have a 2006 Pilot, which is a great SUV. We retired the 1995 Accord Wagon when we bought the 2010 Fusion Sport AWD. Previously we have had in decending order a 2001 Odyssey EX, a 1991 Accord EX-R sedan and a 1987 Acura Integra LS 3 dr hatch.

We were pleasantly surprises the Sport AWD drives very similar to Hondas in terms of the controlled ride and the sporty handling. The interior is very confortable and it's fast! Only typical Honda things we miss are the folding mirrors, the simpler wiper controls, the separate external mirror heat switch, the internal gas door release, and the better door closing sound.

Yes I 2nd that Ford hit it out of the park. Not sure why I don't see more of them around still.

  8. I've had my Fusion two months today. SEL V6 AWD in smokestone. I've owned Hondas since 1975 and never thought I'd switch, but Ford did hit the ball out of the park on this one. I test drove every vehicle in its class (literally), and the Fusion wins hands down. I generally got over two hundred thousand miles out of each of my Hondas - just hope I can do the same with the Fusion. Haven't had a Ford since the '72 Pinto, but so far I am loving the Fusion. Handling is tight, styling is mature and sophisticated ("sweet", as the kids would say), and the technology is amazing. This was a big step out of the box for me but I do turn heads on the road.
