Got the 2012 Fusion SE today and yes, the white plastic cap now has a pretty sturdy patch affixed on the engine compartment side. I removed the wiring from the 2010, but since it will be a challenge removing the plug from the 2012 to swap it I plugged the hole on the 2010 cap instead leaving it there. It appears that instead of removing the cap this time to drill the hole I'll probably have to drill through the cap and patch in place. I'll be doing a 3/4-inch hole, so I can pass the connector through with the wires without cutting and re-attaching and it looks like I'll have to go from the engine side in (not sure if can get a drill in the right position on the inside. We'll see how things go, or maybe I'll change my mind....

This is an old thread...but I've been looking at running trailer wiring on my 08 Fusion SEL that I just got.

That "box" in the pictures is the control module for the keyless entry. I know this because my car didn't come with a manual, nor the access code. I had to crawl under the dash to find the module to get the access code. :)

So I imagine that on cars without the keyless entry, the magic white plug is probably very visible. On ones with keyless, it is underneath that module.
