Multitask
I just picked up a used 2012 Fusion SEL with the Sony sound but no nav. When I put my Pioneer 8100 in, I know that the OEM stereo sounds great. Does it have a separate amp, or is that sound coming direct from the HU? And if there is a separate amp, will the 8100 be able to utilize it? I know the Sync is the older version, can that get updated to a newer one? Once the 8100 is in, and there is a Sync update (probably won't be), can I still use the USB port in the center console to update it? Is there anything I should know before the 8100 gets put in? 8)
akirby
Pretty sure the Sony system has a separate amp (or two). No idea whether you can just plug in a new HU. You may need an adapter to maintain sync functionality.

Love the sound on the stock HU, hoping it remains with the new HU... I doubt it'll keep the surround sound (not that anything uses it now), but I'm hopeful.... 8)
akirby
Looks like you need this to keep sync: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_794ADSMRR/iDatalink-Maestro-ADS-MRR-Interface-Module.html?tp=3486 And here is an install in a Raptor that should also help http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f12/pioneer-avic-8100nex-installation-44679/

The place I go to is very knowledgable so we'll see. It's not going to happen for a few weeks anyway, so I can do a lot of research
Multitask
It's in, and everything works from the Sync, I can even fade front to back... wasn't that one of the things mentioned that they said wouldn't do? I'm not sure IF this can happen, I'd LIKE it if I could turn off the upper display, like when it was stock so that just the Time shows... and I'm hoping it can still do the Updates... wishful thinking...
