MFT radio swap to HD radio unit

So I was thinking to my self, SELF, if you swapped out the MFT radio you have with the HD version, would you gain the HD station that broadcasts the traffic and such... This way you wouldn't have to pay the XM fees for that.

So I ask anyone out there, would that happen? And how easy/hard would it be to do (or have done)? 8)

Oh, this question is for the NAV version. If the HD radio provides the traffic stuff... 8) Not asking how to do it, just if the HD radio adds the traffic feature for the NAV.

The radio (ACM) provides traffic features to the NAV via the Sirius Travel link, the only difference between the one in the SE with the 8" MFT and the one in the Titanium is the HD radio IC.

You'll need to use Forscan to enable the HD Radio button in the APIM (on screen enable/disable) and you want to get your existing ACM settings from Forscan so that your volume control works correctly.

Unfortunately I don't think I have the hardware for HD in my unit, this is why I am asking. If it has it and it's not enabled, then I'll have to look into doing that. 8)

I was hoping that swapping it out (or modding it) to have HD would then allow it to use the HD radio traffic frequency .... but if it's not going to then I'll just pass on doing that.

My previous cars I put in a Pioneer that had HD and used it for traffic.
