Hybrid10
I have a 2010 fusion hybrid and 2 days ago my auto headlights wouldn't turn off in bright daylight unless manually select it to the off position. Ive tried the settings time delay in the dash settings and nothing seems to work. Has anyone experienced this and what could be the problem ??
VonoreTn
Somehow it's in Canadian mode? Under Setup, Vehicle settings on the left side of the instrument cluster, at autolamps, you can set the headlights to stay on a bunch of choices up to 180 seconds (3 minutes). Try changing it to 10 seconds. Page 38 in the Owners Guide. Or it could just be a stuck closed relay, under the hood, but starting on page 236 of the Owners Guide, I'm not seeing any headlight relays. Hybrid10
I did notice when i changed it to 10 seconds on the headlamps settings, that it was set up higher then usual. Also when i changed it my other settings were turned all off and i turned them on a while back including the- back up sensors, auto unlock and auto lock which i found off which was odd. But since i changes them all on and auto 10 seconds it still stays on during the day on auto headlamps... i feel stuck
lolder
Do you have anything on the top of the dash covering up the sensor? You could also try disconnecting the 12 vdc battery for a few minutes. Some other things might have to be reset then also but that's easy.
Hybrid10
No I keep my car pretty clean nothing on top with of the dash covering it, I'll try disconnecting the battery before I go to work later this morning and see if that works.

So i Disconnect the battery for 20 minutes put everything back and still the same issue even went into settings on the dash. Looks like im going to have to take it into a shop. Also my rear defroster hasn't worked in a while yet my side mirrors defrosters do work fine when turned on..
drolds1
Try cleaning the ambient light sensor. You may need to replace it.

Is it only the headlights that don't turn off in the Auto switch position? Do the taillights also remain on?
Hybrid10
I'm not sure i will double check tomorrow when there's some daylight to see if the back ones stay on
lolder
How old is the 12 vdc battery? Unusual problems often stem from a battery that needs replacing. This car's computers are unusually sensitive to minor deterioration in that battery.
Hybrid10
I got it in late June from Ford. So its 6 months old the 12v battery.

If you have an ODB2 scan tool and a multimeter, the diagnostics could be a bit more solid. autolamps.pdf Refer to the attached autolamps trouble-shooting guide. eGuru
Did the rear window defogger issue happen before you changed the battery? When did you notice the autolamps issue?
Hybrid10
Yes it did the rear defogger stop working when I went to the snow last year I kept turning it on because ice on the rear window wouldnt melt and after that it stopped working. The headlamps stopped working 4 days ago the auto-headlamps Edited December 23, 2017 by Hybrid10
