avengence
I bought a Fusion a while ago, its that all in one key fob and key. It only came with one key when I bought they car. What I was wondering is, how much is it for ford to program another one for us? I know you have to have two keys to program the 3rd key yourself, unless I am mistaken. Any ideas or anyone know?

I've heard anywhere from $20 to $100 - depends on the dealer. Plus buying the key which isn't cheap. Better to call the dealer and ask.

Programming is easy. The manual in my FFH has instructions. Get the key on ebay. Check the flip key or folding key posts here and on the Edge forum for full info!

A vehicle owner or individual must already have two pre-programmed keys to program a third key. An owner or individual can not program a second/new key if they only have one working key. It is an anti-theft prevention measure. This is explained in the Owners Manual in the same section that lists the programming instructions. Good luck. :beerchug:
DaveM
I guess if I was buying a used car that I would make sure it came with 2 keys and remotes if it was orginally equiped that way. At the very least at least 2 keys.

If you bought it new, you got ripped off. All Ford vehicles come with 2 keys.
rpreuss
If you bought it new, you got ripped off. All Ford vehicles come with 2 keys. If you bought it new, you should go back to the dealer and insist that you be given a second key for free. It is part of the original car.
PJFW8
Can't be done with only one key. True...you can program the remote feature, but not the transponder. Transponder set-up needs two keys! Sorry for the confusion!
dksnj
If you bought used and only rec'd one key, I would def get a second key made before something happens to the key you have. I bought mine used w/only one key. One day I couldn't find my keys anywhere. Called the dealer to ask about getting a new one. They said since I didn't have one, the car would have to be towed, then they would need to make a new one and program it. Without towing, they were talking approximately $300. Luckily , I found my keys. I need to take my own advice now and get a second made
kens
A related question: I want to get an extra key for my 2010. But I want it to be a plain one, without the enormous plastic part, because I carry my keys in my pocket and I'm quite capable of unlocking doors the old fashioned way, without the use of buttons and remote controls. I went to the local Orchard Supply Hardware (Calif. chain) but they didn't have the blanks in stock. Does anyone know of a specific hardware store that definitely would have them?

Any locksmith should be able to provide you with one. The vehicle allows up to 8 coded keys, but only 4 IKT's can be programmed. I had one made up for my wife, same reason, didn't like the bulk. But be forewarned, if you enter the car by unlocking the door with the key, you have 12 seconds to insert the key in the ignition and start it before the horn starts honking. Unless you use the keypad on the door to unlock it. Have you seen the "Flip-Key". It is a nice alternative. Slightly shorter but still "big".
