jerrieric
Really was feeling great regarding my Hybrid buy until my wife saw it was leaking something on the garage floor. Turns out it is radiator coolant. Dealer said the Hybrid has 2 coolant systems and the mechanic who knows all would not be in until noon. Gave me a loaner and I hope to get it back by Tuesday. I'll let you know the final cause and fix. Has anyone else had this issue? Just got a call from the dealer, I think I got this right but I was on my cell in a rental car. Ford says to replace the DC to DC converter? Edited February 13, 2010 by jerrieric
rfruth
Sounds about right (not that your having a problem) there are 2 coolant systems the second one (not the usual radiator one) handles the the converter among other things, so whats the verdict ?
jerrieric
Supposed to get it back today. Part did not arrive until yesterday. Going to snow here this afternoon so don't care if it is not ready until tomorrow. I will let everyone know the final fix.
jerrieric
Got the car back this afternoon. They had to replace the dc to dc converter. Said the part alone was $1,400. I will be keeping an eye on it.

lordyourjosh
The extended long term warranty just started sounding more attractive. I wonder if that part is considered part of the longer powertrain warranty. I would assume it is, which means it gets the longer warranty instead of the short 3 year/36000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. I'm not going to worry, myself - this is just one failure we've heard about. If it was a common issue, then I might get concerned.
Oman
It is a hybrid specific part, covered by the longer hybrid component warranty. Jon I wonder if that part is considered part of the longer powertrain warranty.
