btrky
I have not had a car with this crappy of a radio since my 1967 VW Bug. You would think a 12 Speaker Sony system would sound better than some tin cans and string.
bliss515
Any updates? I have a 2011 fusion sport w/ the 12 speaker sony system and having the same FM sound fluctuation. So after having it at the dealer 3 times, they replaces some module twice.... It did make the sound a little better, but the sound continues to fade in and out (Treble) After the dealership contacted ford engineers, their response was something like this......... "When a radio signal is not very stong the treble is the first thing to go" so basically they blew me off and are blaming it on poor signal strength..... See if you guys can get in contact with them so they know we are NOT happy with their shitty antenna/ radio quality.
brand1399
Hey Waldo, you wrote this "There's a new TSB out (came out on July 6th) that addresses this issue. Sounds like they replace the radio unit, but the new units have some kind of software fix that previous replacement radios wouldn't have had. " What is a TSB? Please get back to me. Thanks, Brandon
steveo64
I have this same issue in my 2010 Fusion SE. Mine is the most basic stereo, no Sony system, no SYNC. I am going to install a Kenwood Stereo with BT and Ipod controls so I don't care much about the stock radio but it is annoying to hear the highs drop out on the FM. It happens often in my car. BTW, I already have 44k miles so my bumper to bumper warranty is gone
Nordb3rg
I purchased a 2010 SE Fusion with the 6 speaker system and SYNC and I am having the same issue where the treble disappears periodically and the sound becomes muffled. I traded my 03 Corrolla CE with 4 speaker single disc stereo for the Fusion and never had an issue with FM reception the 8years I owned it. I drive the same roads twice a day for work and I experience this issue between 5-10 times each time. The dealer replaced the entire radio which included an FM module. The replacement was unsuccessful. I am still experiencing the disappearing treble and muffled sound. I have an appointment next week with the dealer to attempt to demonstrate the issue with them, basically a ride-along. This is the very first Ford product I have ever owned and, although fluctuating FM reception may seem like a minor issue, I will always have a little regret for this purchase until the issue is resolved. I'll update the forum as new details arise.
hytek
I have a 2010 Sport with the 12 speaker Sony too. The sounds sucks when on FM, but I hardly listen to regular radio. It sounds like it loses signal and fades in and out. I usually use Sirius, my iPod, or stream music via Bluetooth with my Droid. The sound is most optimal with CD or iPod. Another thing that is odd, the sound is the fullest when the volume is about 2/3rds up, after that the bass usually bottoms out. I've always had aftermarket sound systems in previous cars and this is the first car that I haven't, so I can tell when the amp has it's cleanest power. I've been thinking of adding a separate powered sub just for those reasons.
NWCanuck
I know this post is old, but I just bought a 2011 Fusion with the same Sony system and after about a week I noticed the wierd treble level fade from high to low which led me to this post. My Fusion only has 26K on it so I would like to get this taken care of now, but it seems like no one ever got anywhere with this issue. Is there a more up to date thread that I am missing or has this issue been resolved by FORD? Thanks Brad
