2010 SYNC and Iphone/Ipod Touch

Recommended Posts

I bought an Ipod touch a few weeks ago to use with my Fusion when i finally get it, but now Ive been reading that there are problems with the Iphone and Ipod touch working with Sync. Specifically that Sync wont recognize them as a USB device and that they only work when plugged in the AUX jack. Has any one had this problem?

I have an iPhone I'm using with Sync in my Fusion. I have had some problems but it might be best for you to goto www.syncmyride.com and check the forums there for a full description of issues.

For me I have problems where it goes to Bluetooth when I want to use the USB connection. I have just gotten used to making sure it's connected right when I first get in the car.

Another issue has been indexing. If you resync your iPhone in iTunes, the sync index needs to be rebuilt next time in the car and that can take 10-15 minutes I you have a lot of tracks. If you don't add tracks through iTunes a lot then you have fewer hassles.

Hope this helps. People are hoping the next iPhone OS takes care of some of these problems.

I have an iTouch and it seems to work fine when plugged into USB. If you download audio books books from audible.com you will need to put the book into a play-list to to get it to index not sure exactly why but it seems to work.

Let the audio system (and Sync) initialize before plugging the dock cable into the the iPhone or iPod Touch. Sync is recognized as an accessory, and plugging it in too early causes a bit of a headache. With the iPhone, if you are playing over USB, and disconnect the iPhone while the audio is still playing - Sync switches to Bluetooth to continue playing. Kinda neat that it is so seamless.

Good Luck, and enjoy the car!

I"ve had an Ipod Touch for a couple of months now. It works fine with sync. Once I got an error message about indexing, but that issue was easily rectified with the SyncMyiTunes program which is available for download at syncmyride.com. I have not encountered an indexing issue or any other problem since. So I would say definitely check out the Sync website.
