acivitarese
Hello all I am new to the forums and was looking to tweak and personalize my 2010 Ford Fusion Se Manual transmission. I have a ton of questions because I'm not sure exactly what I would like to change. So first my thought was to get a new head unit, sub woofers and an amp. Now my biggest concerns are the effects these will have on my warranty, and sync system. If you have any input regarding these that would be great. Suggestions as to what pieces to get especially. I am on a budget so I have to keep price in mind. Secondly, I really dislike the utilitarian feel the car drives with especially in the shifter. I was wondering if there are any proven after market short throw shifters available for the 2010 ford fusion. And finally! I was wondering about rims and possible upgrades and whether you had some suggestions. Depending on the prices I might do 1 or multiple ideas. So Thank you very much for your input!

If you're on a budget and you don't really know what you want to change - why change anything (right now)? Why not wait a bit. Forget about the head unit if you want to keep sync - start with new speakers, then a new amp and/or subwoofer. Not sure about the shifter. Forget about wheels if you're on a budget - way too expensive and they're only cosmetic.

Crutchfield is a good source for turn-key kits - they tell you what will fit and offer the necessary instructions and harnesses to make everything work.

marchingphoenix
If you still have steel wheels, changing them out is not only a cosmetic thing. Those suckers weight about 29 lbs a pop, so if you change out to 17" alloys, you will probably find them around 18-19 lbs. Cutting 40lbs of unsprung weight can do a LOT for the dynamics for the car. You might gain a couple mpg as well.
