Puddle Light removal

Recommended Posts

Hi Oldguy,

You need to remove the mirror, it's heated, and blind spot and stuff, so it has a short bit of wiring which won't let it fall on the ground, but don't stretch the wires either. Pull the top edge of the mirror back past the back of the top edge of the housing. There are clips that hold the mirror and the mirror slides up out of the clips. So you pull back and up carefully.

The puddle light holder has a tab on the out side end. the bulb holder twists, but the left hand lamp twists clockwise to come out. Once you get the mirror off you'll see how.

I Have a 2010 Fusion SEL, and I want to replace my puddle lights, the ones under the mirror, with LED's. I can't see how the light comes out since there are no screws easily visible. Does anybody know how these lights come out?

From another forum:

Take the mirror and angle it down as far as possible. Then take the top end (now sticking out past the housing) and pull directly back toward you as you pull up. I know it seems like you are going to shatter your mirror but you're not going to. Be careful of the wires that are attached the the mirror heater as they aren't all that long! Then take a flat screwdriver and push the clip towards the housing surrounding the light bulb so that it can be pushed down out the bottom of mirror housing. Once the light housing is free from the inside of the mirror housing just give the gray bulb holder a 1/4 turn and it pops out with the bulb. Bulb just pulls right out.

I'm not sure it's too late, but I replaced my puddle lights with RED LED's. I did not have to remove the mirror, just used something small and thin to have the bulb assembly pop out in my hand. Don't remove the mirror, that is not needed.

Actually it isn't too late, could you please explain in more detail how you did what you did? I have to order more bulbs anyway.

Follow this link. I'm going to try it myself this weekend. http://www.fordfusio...?topic=188485.0

That had to be on if the best write ups I have ever seen, thanks for the link. You really don't have to take off the mirror, I'm very impressed and will now do these very soon. I have 9 led bulbs, hopefully they're bright enough. I installed 13 led bulbs for the front map lights, they look excellent and are very bright. Ordering ones for the rear soon.

Ebay, I know everyone says crappy things about ebay, but you can't beat the prices for the EXACT same led's you get other places. Just go on and search "White led wedge". You can pay like 99 cents and wait for ones from hong kong, or pay a bit more from ones shipped from U.S. I now have all white le'ds, except for the rear dome, which should be here Friday. But thanks again for the link, that saved me alot of trouble.
