EricBrenner
On my 2008 Fusion SE I4, I have a odd noise. Whenever I go to start the car on a cold morning, I hear a bearing noise like the water pump is failing. After the engine comes up to operating temperature, the noise is gone (which I think is the bearings getting warm and the metal expanding from the engine warming up). I wonder if anyone else has had a similar issue and what was the culprit.
FusionDiffusion
Could also be alternator bearings. Try spaying Windex on the belt to see if it goes away (it could be a noisy belt). I would take the belt off and spin the pulleys by hand to inspect them before concluding it's a bad water pump.
