mnrick
Once in awhile, usually shortly after I start the car I sometimes get a hard knock while driving. Sometimes it is such a jolt that is feels like someone rear ended me. This has to be a transmission problem right?? I live in a place where it is extremely cold out this time of year and the car only does this when it is cold, like after it sat outside while I worked a 12 hour shift and I am driving home. Any ideas what this might be?? I have already been into service multiple times for other issues with this car, if I go back in I want to know what to tell them. Is there a term for this?
con_fusion
Do you feel the hard "knock" when it's shifting from one gear to the next? Typically, it won't shift as smooth as it should until warmed up. I think the owners manual mentions this. But if it seems extreme, you might take it to the dealer and let them keep it overnight so when they try it in the morning they can most likely duplicate the concern. See what they say. I know it's a PITA to leave it over night.
mnrick
It probably is when it is shifting from one gear to the next, I am not sure and it does not happen all the time. It is leased, have another year with this car and then I can get something else.
con_fusion
I've said it before... I wish I had leased mine...
fusionfamily
There is a TSB that may pertain to your '12 for intermittent harsh shifts with no DTCs (no engine or wrench light on). Your dealer can always do the PCM update as per the TSB - again assuming your Fusion fits the bill (built before 05/08/12 with the 6F35 transmission).
MadMerc
My old man has the same problem on his '12. The dealer has re-flashed the pcm twice now, and it still does it once in a while. Thank God he leased the car. He still gets pissed when he sees my '09 with no problems .
fusionfamily
My wife's 2012 has the 6F35 and it's been good. All transmissions will get the odd harsh up or downshift, TCMs / PCMs can't be programmed for EVERY possible shift scenario.
durasel
That's why we stuck with getting a Sport model with the aisin transmission!!
